Lost in Pug Translation

Sometimes pugs do things or act a certain way that confuses or frustrates us because they just interpret things different from us.  This came out to a lot more cluttered on the same sized paper I usually use so I hope you can still follow what I tried to do here.  Just follow the arrows for each little scenario!

Stubborn Pugs

Some people think that pugs are stupid because some pugs are hard to train.  It's not that they're stupid, it's just that they are extremely stubborn.  Maybe they know what you're trying to tell them but they don't want to do it.  Maybe they just don't care.  It's a trait that can be incredibly frustrating, hilarious, and entertaining.

Sunny is the worst - she's the most stubborn dog I've ever met!  If we're out on a walk and she doesn't want to move she will just plop her big ol butt down and refuse to budge.  Sometimes, not even food is enough to convince her to do something.  Rosy on the other hand is a people pleaser and a food monster so it's pretty easy to convince her to do anything.

So You Think You Want A Pug...

It always amazes me how many pugs are in rescues.  I think that a lot of times people get dogs without realizing all the ups and downs of having one.  I love all aspects of having Sunny and Rosy (well maybe not the nail trimmings so much), but there are definitely some more challenging/difficult parts.  So if you're thinking of having a pug because you think pugs are cute, just keep in mind a few of these things.

Benefits To Pug Ownership

Having my two pugs makes me happy and I wouldn't trade them for anything!  They say that having a dog even has some health benefits like lowering one's blood pressure.  Here are a few other "benefits" to pug ownership.

Cold Dogs And a Side of Fries

I normally run hot and summers here are hot and humid so I normally enjoy fall and winter but the weather here has been bitter cold with a crazy wind. Sunny, Rosy, and I are trying to stay as warm as possible until this cold spell ends. If it's going to be cold it should at least snow so we can have a snow day at home!

Oh and there are no fries in this drawing. I just liked the play on "hot dogs" in the title. And I do love fries.

Baby It's Cold Outside!

Wow the temperatures here went from really warm on the weekend to freezing cold today! Sunny and Rosy were very reluctant to go outside in the cold this morning. Luckily instead of a poo strike the freezing wind gusts prompted the girls to do their business fast!

Of course every weekend morning the girls wake me up early but this morning Sunny was a snoring puggerpillar (aka pug loaf) and when I tried to wake them up they just did this:

TV Love/Hate?

Just a quick sketch today inspired by Rosy. She really is fascinated by the TV,  especially anything with animals or animation. Family Guy especially drives her nuts!  Sunny doesn't care about the TV and will only start barking (or pug awoowooing) if Rosy starts barking and jumping. My sister's pug is the same as Rosy to the point where we couldn't watch anything with animals on it.

The Pug and the Pea(s)

It's been a while since I did a pug spin on a fairy tale and so here's a new one - The Pug and the Pea(s), based on The Princess and the Pea!  Sadly this is not based on reality for me since Sunny and Rosy are still not that cuddly with each other.  But they both love sleeping on top of me, whether it's an arm, a leg, or a foot.

Ready To Go Home

On cold and/or rainy days it never fails. As soon as Sunny does her business she wants back inside right away. Her favorite tactic is to wait until I'm distracted trying to open up a bag to pick up Rosy's poop, and then go as far as her leash lets her so by the time I try to pick up the poop I am just out of reach because of Sunny's stubborn, large body pulling in the opposite direction. Of course this is all while trying to balance an umbrella between my jaw and shoulder, and the umbrella inevitably gets flipped inside out by the wind. Rosy always lingers by my side, getting tangled in the slack leash. I like to call this the perfect storm.

None of this happened today though because it was so cold and dreary this morning, the girls were on a poo strike.

Anyways, many days at work I feel like Sunny and I just want to go home right away!

Mondays

Just a quick sketch showing how Sunny, Rosy, and I feel about Mondays.

You know how you notice little quirks about your pets after staring at them?... No?  Just me? Ah well I already know I'm a crazy pug lady. Anyways I've noticed that when Rosy closes her eyes her eye markings make her eyes look like opposite facing "L" shapes. These eye markings are much more pronounced on Rosy than Sunny, see?
Ok that's all. Just wanted to point that out. Have a not too horrible Monday!

Weekend

This pretty much sums up how I feel every Friday until I get out of work. Actually I feel like this most of the week.

Apathetic Pug

I haven't done two posts in one day in so long! I got busy and sometimes I run out of ideas. Anyways, this lil drawing is inspired by a face and pose that Sunny often makes. It's usually when she's tired but it looks like she's really saying she just doesn't care. I often feel the way she look, especially at work.

No Space Is Too Small For A Pug

Sunny loves to squeeze into uncomfortably tight spots on or around me so it's nice to see her get a taste of her own medicine with Rosy!

Why Having Two Pugs Is Not Always Awesome

With the sweet comes the sour, and so counter my previous post "Why Having Two Pugs Is Awesome" here are a few reasons why having two pugs is not always so awesome.  Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade it for anything and the pros most definitely outweigh any possible cons.  If anything, the cons are endearing in their own way!

Why Having Two Pugs Is Awesome

When I was first contemplating getting a second pug last year, some of my family members advised against it, saying it would be too much extra trouble and cost, and fearing that I'd devolve into a crazy pug lady (ha! too late - already am!).  But now that I have Rosy, I can't imagine not having both her and Sunny!  Even my formerly doubting family members love her and see how happy I am with my two pugs.  For any of you contemplating whether to get a second pug (or other dog), here are a few advantages to having two of them!

P.S. I have a habit of updating my look in my drawings, especially any hair changes.  So in case you were wondering if I was just being inconsistent, I did recently get a hair cut and shorter bangs again, which explains the different hair here.  I can't help it, it just tumbles out of my pen!
