I try to avoid the news coverage of memorials or walks. I was active duty in the Air Force, stationed in Texas on September 11. I was an instructor. Coincidentally, my class was half filled with New York Guardsmen. I remember no one could get through to see if their families were ok. As their instructor, they were all looking to me for reassurance and strength. And I didn't have any to give. I spent most of the morning in the bathroom until I could pull myself together. I remember going home and watching the news. Although I didn't lose anyone I knew, it hurt so much. It still hurts. Thank you for posting something simple and respectful.
And so we remember...
