Pug O
O is for Odor, a pug's Fritos smell.
Have you ever noticed when your pug is sleepy or sleeping he/she smells strongly of Fritos, especially near their paws? No? I'm the only weirdo sniffing her pug? Uh okay...

Pug N
N is for Nap time, when pugs rest their heads.

Pug G
G is for Gobble, how most pugs chow down.
Sorry for so many pug alphabet posts. I'll be doing two at a time since that's how they go together. I keep trying to think of other things to draw but my mind wants to focus on and finish the alphabet. I figure I should take advantage of this determination since I rarely finish things I start. So here's to hoping that I make it to Z!

Pug F
F is for Frigid, when pugs will not poo. True story. Sunny does not like to do her business when it's really cold outside. Or raining. Or snowing. Or windy.

Swamp
This is for this week's Illustration Friday topic, "swamp." Pug and bunny don't know what they've gotten themselves into. I hope they make it out of the swamp okay. But those alligators look pretty hungry, and pug and bunny aren't paying attention to the water...

Pug B
B is for Begging, which pugs do for treats.
This B is a bit of a stretch. Maybe I should have made their bellies bigger. Or done it with four pugs. But I like them in this pose because this is exactly how my pug begs for treats!

Pug A
My recent post (P-U-G post) where I spelled out PUG with pugs made me want to do a full pug alphabet. I've seen various fun alphabets and fonts using animals before but I wanted to do a pug one (obviously). And because I am impatient I will trickle them out letter by letter. So here is the first installment in my pug alphabet! A! A is for apples which pugs love to eat.

How A Pug Welcomes Spring
This is how a pug welcomes spring. Seriously. I was walking her and admiring the beautiful recently bloomed trees and then looked down and realized she was peeing right at the base of the tree.
I've been doing a lot of pen work recently and so it was a nice welcome change to add some color this time. I had a split second of disappointment when I first started where I was upset I couldn't accurately capture how the tree looks. Don't you hate it when you can't convey on paper what's in your head? But I kept at it and ended up relatively pleased with the result. But man painting takes up way more time!

Pug Is Ready For Spring
I got a new blue pen and wanted to test it out with a random quick doodle. I must have spring on my mind.

Am I A Pug? - #6
Am I a pug? We both don't tolerate heat very well. I don't know how either of us would've survived pre-air conditioning.

Piece of Cake!
It's a piece of cake! Of course a piece of cake is easy. Just a little slice. The real challenge is the rest of the cake. Eating it or resisting it. Both are hard and yet rewarding in their own way.

March - Spring is Coming!
Never fails. Each year as spring approaches there's that one beautiful sunny day as the weather warms up that I'm punched in the face by the smell of fertilizer everywhere. I hate that smell. Sunny, on the other hand, loves it.

Drink Like A Fish
These fish yielded to temptation. Temptation of the bottle. You know technically in real life fish don't drink alcohol. I just wanted to make that perfectly clear. But if they did, I bet they'd be mean drunks.
Driving Someone Up A Wall
Driving someone up a wall! I get this. Lots of things and people frustrate and annoy me. I'm pleasant like that. For some reason anytime I think of a kid or animal driving a car, my mind immediately jumps to the Phantom Tollbooth car. I LOVED that book as a kid.

Hotel Bed Bug Check
I've already posted in the past about my bed bug paranoia here and here. I recently visited New York for a weekend and of course did my usual bed bug paranoia routine (this is not specific to New York, I do this for all hotels because bed bugs can be anywhere!). I always check online reviews before I book a hotel and once I'm there I always check the bed for any signs of bed bugs and keep my stuff in the bathroom. I hate having to touch the mattress when I lift it up and I'm always so scared of what I might find. And those decorative pillows and bed runners are so annoying. Those immediately get tossed aside.
In an ideal world, I would wear a space suit as I do my check. I messed up the feet here and my friend pointed out that I did pug feet! I think whenever I draw a bulbous, plump figure, my brain and hand automatically start to draw a pug. At least I didn't draw a curly tail.

Head Over Heels
I always thought the phrase "head over heels" odd. Our heads are always over our heels! In that case, I am always head over heels. Head over heels for all!

Second Pet? (skunk)
So I've been thinking again about getting a second pet. But somehow I don't think a skunk would be a good idea. Between the two of them I don't think I could suffer all the horrible smells. I didn't even know people had skunks as pets until I read about it on Wikipedia. Wtf? My sister's old house used to have skunks wandering around the hills there. One time I saw one squeezing it's way through a gate, eager to get into a front yard and stink it up. Every time we'd see a little waddling black and white blob we'd shriek and roll up the car windows or run back inside the house. I must admit they do have kinda cute waddles. But that smell. That smell! Of course my lil pug is no rose either.

How I Torture My Pug
This is what my lil pug looks like every time I have to give her a bath. She gives me the saddest look as though I gave her a large steak to eat and then snatched it away mid-bite and ate the entire thing in front of her while burning her beloved toys. That's the best way I can think of describing it. On the floor you can see my arsenal - shampoo and conditioner which oddly look like alcohol, ear cleaning stuff, q-tips, and wipes for her wrinkle. Near the end of her bath my back is aching, my arms are trembling and my knees are sore. And what do I get for all this hard work? A wet pug shaking off water on me as she squirms and runs away to suck on her toys as she gives me a death glare.
Curiosity Killed The Cat
No kitty! Don't do it! I always wondered, why is it a cat? Couldn't curiosity in any animal lead to a mishap? Is it just for the alliteration? Why not curiosity killed the camel? Or curiosity killed the crow?

Pugger
I love it when my pug lays down on her belly and kicks back her legs like this:
She looks like a little frog! This then had me thinking about frogs, which then had me thinking about Frogger, one of the best games from my childhood. I used to love that game! Gaming systems nowadays are pretty awesome but there's nothing like the classics. I loved the tabletop version, where you and your opponent sit on opposite sides. So here is my version of Frogger, pug-frog style. I really enjoyed doing this one - it made me feel so nostalgic!
