Distracting Billy and Emily
I love hanging out with my niece and nephew but sometimes my sister and I want some downtime or quiet time to talk. That's when we whoop out the laptop and let them watch some kid's shows. My sister and her husband don't have a TV in their house, so when given the opportunity to watch a show on the laptop, my niece and nephew quickly and eagerly climb onto the couch and get quiet.

Family Photo with Billy and Emily
Upon my niece's direction, here is a drawing of Billy and Emily with their parents, taking a family photo together. And the cackling aunts are giggling in the corner.

Christmas with Billy and Emily
Billy and Emily had a great Christmas this year! The highlight for Billy was the set of toy drums he received (not great for the rest of the family and our hearing), and the highlight for Emily was a Dorothy from Wizard of Oz costume, complete with a toy dog Toto.

Barber Shop Stripes
This week's Illustration Friday theme is "stripes." I could not for the life of me think of anything to do with stripes all day. Right before I was going to call it a day and just paint a normal drawing with stripes everywhere, I thought of the stripes on a barber shop pole. And then one thing led to another and here is mustached bunny giving Sunny a mustache trim.
I love a good fancy mustache. My childhood best friend and I used to shout out different kinds of mustaches as our moms drove us home. I'm sure my neighbors thought it was freaky to hear us shouting "curly mustache!" and "rainbow mustache!" It's especially impressive Sunny managed to grow this mustache considering she's a pug and a girl. Billy and Emily are waiting outside on a bench, eating some ice cream.
I had fun with this one although I definitely need a better paintbrush for the finer details. I want something with shorter hairs and less give. My fingers were sore at the end.
Happy Friday!

Pirate Pugs
Billy and Emily are going through a big pirate phase. They don't really understand what pirates are, other than they wear fun hats and bandannas, carry swords, wear eye patches, and shout, "Ahoy, matey!" Oh and they look for "treasure."

Dancing Pugs (Billy & Emily)
Billy and Emily started ballet classes recently. They LOVE it. Although most of it is just dancing around with streamers, hopping around with bunny ears, and waving fake flowers in the air. I fully support that. Lessons for young pups should be all about fun! Here's Billy and Emily preparing for their dance class.

Introducing Billy & Emily
I wanted to have a series of illustrations about my niece and nephew and since I know pugs best, I decided to make them lil baby pugs. Names were also changed for privacy.
I'll be posting about their mischief and adventures in the form of Billy and Emily. I'll try to remember to do something to distinguish between these and my usual drawings about my pug and her bunny. So many pugs, so little time...
