A Girl and Her Pug
I have a great idea for a children's book but it would involve illustrations different from what I typically do (ink only sketches of me, Sunny and Rosy). I used watercolors when younger and with some of my recent color illustrations but I want to try out other different mediums. These two are sketches I did with a slightly thicker pen than I usually use and Copic markers. I've had these Copic markers for a while now but I don't use color often so they were sitting in a drawer until I recently decided to whoop them out and give them another try. I really liked using the Copic markers because they bring back childhood memories of coloring with markers, but I think I need more colors and the blender marker.

Love love love these!!
ReplyDeleteAdorable! You're on the right path.
ReplyDeleteI would buy these if you ever decide to sell prints!!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about how the blender works. I haven't used markers in years, because I hate the streaks (and am not talented/patient enough to incorporate them into my drawings).
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely give Copic markers a try - it's not even comparable to other markers I've used in the past. They are much less streaky and easier to blend because they're alcohol based. I am still searching for the right paper for them and also waiting to get the blender and more colors. But I'm really enjoying using markers again!
DeleteI love your sketches! I have a couple of short pug stories I sure wish I had an illustrator for. We should consider putting our heads together on this. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this! I would gladly buy such a book!
ReplyDeleteI really like your blog, the illustrations are adorable . Looking forward to more. I would buy your book.
ReplyDeleteYou need a book, a syndicated strip in a newspaper, and an animated series. I adore your work and look forward to everything you post.
ReplyDeleteThis year I got my puggy Rudy Boo. He's my first pug, so it's been really great to know that all the stinkiness, wrinkles, and sleep-standing are all just a pug's life. You have a great eye for the details that encompass the entire pug experience. From the expressions to the movements and postures, you sure know pug.
OMD these are so perfect! That's exactly how my niece and nephews try to pick up my Pugs and Puglet :)-
ReplyDeleteThat's a very sad looking pug (although very cuddly). I guess she doesn't like being held like that?
ReplyDeleteThese are really beautiful! I love how they are bold yet simplistic. I look forward to seeing more!

Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments! I always love hearing from you even if I don't respond to each comment!
ReplyDeleteI really love these! We lost our 2 1/2 year old Pug, Tilly, last August, and she and my daughter loved each other so much. I even found some pics to share, since I appreciate your drawings and pug pics so much.
