Pug Gardeners

With all their digging, pooping, peeing, and scratching, I don't think pugs would make very good gardeners.  In fact, I think they would completely destroy your nice lawn and garden.

Pug Chauffeurs

During today's long run I tried thinking of some new pug drawing ideas and thought it would be fun to do some pug jobs/careers.  I thought of so many great ideas but once I got home all I could remember was pug chauffeur.  Ah well, good enough.  So here's a drawing of some pugs doing a very poor job of driving my car.  But they sure look darn cute driving recklessly!

Because of my inability to draw straight and do perspective properly, coupled with my poor ability to draw cars or anything mechanical, I did a pencil sketch first to make sure I got the dimensions as best as I could.  But I hate doing pencil drawings first.  I mean I like that I can do a more precise drawing, but after I go over it in pen, whenever I erase the pencil marks, it picks up a lot of the ink.  This happens no matter what pen or ink I'm using and is such a pain!  I then have to go over all the lines again which is just creating another opportunity to mess up.  Does anyone have any advice on how to prevent this?  Maybe it's the eraser I'm using?  I have one of those gray kneaded erasers.  I like the spontaneous looseness of just starting with pen and seeing how it goes, but it sucks when I mess up one part of it and have to start over.

Anyways, time to think of the next pug job.  Hmm.....

Every Week

In honor of this rough week that just won't end fast enough for me, here's a small doodle of how I feel throughout a week, pug style of course.

I think I want to do a more polished and larger version of this. Unfortunately I am incapable of drawing straight even with a ruler but I'm hoping a ruler and pre-pencil work will at least help keep the drawing somewhat straight!

Jump

This week's Illustration Friday topic is "jump." my pug is capable of amazing physical feats when food is involved.

Bah!

This has been a rough week for me at work and I feel just like this poor lil pug. Bah!

I came up with my blog name because "bah!" has always been my favorite thing to write in an email, im, or text when I'm feeling cranky, frustrated or disgruntled. So in honor of this crappy week that just won't end I say BAH HUMPUG!

Pug Trees

I wish money grew on trees.  But my second choice would be for pugs to grow on trees.  Be careful you pick them when they're ripe!  The puppies need some more time to ripen, although they are super cute like that.

Flutter Like A Pug

Whenever my pug meets another dog that she really likes she will bounce around so fast it's like she's fluttering across the ground in a semicircle. Seriously, it's like she's just bouncing around stiff legged like a wind-up toy. I love it - it always cracks me up!

Pug Karaoke

Have you ever done karaoke, Korean-style?  Where you go into a small, private, dark room with a disco crystal ball and tambourine and circular couch as you pick songs to sing from a black binder that play on the tv screen with weird, cheesy music videos?  Yeah, that's what the pugs are doing here.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

It's been raining all day and pug and bunny are a bit sad that they can't go outside and play.  Sigh, I know rain is a necessity, but couldn't there be some breaks in the day?  Pugs and rain do not mix well.

Heights

This is for this week's Illustration Friday theme (heights). Poor lil koala pug now knows why koalas are always hugging tree trunks. It's because they're so high up and all afraid of heights. Too bad that's where the delicious eucalyptus leaves are.

I started doodling after I did the koala drawing and ended up doing another one that fit the heights theme. Poor lil pug on top is a little scared of heights - see his uncurled tail?

The Emperor's New Clothes

This is The Emperor's New Clothes, pug style. At first I was going to do a more literal drawing with a naked pug surrounded by clothed pugs, but the more I thought about it the more I wanted to keep all the pugs nekkid. My sister and I always joke about how we like to let our dogs run naked in the house (meaning no collars). So this is what I ended up drawing instead. I was also going to draw more of a village in the background but thought it would look too busy with the the pug crowd up front. Plus I'm working in a pocket sized notebook so it would get a bit tricky for me and I didn't want to spend too much time on this.

Friend??

I had an old pug pillow that I've started using again since I gave away my old sofa pillows but my pug has taken over the pug pillow. She loves spooning it during naps and sometimes tries to climb on top of it only to have it shoot out from under her due to the slippery leather couch. I am convinced this is her way of saying she needs a pug buddy.
