#6 - Alarm clock, electric blanket, neck warmer.
My pug's favorite, and most effective, way to wake me up in the morning is to crawl back and forth over my neck/chest/face. I kinda like it though when she stops mid-way because she's so warm and squishy she's like an electric blanket/neck warmer. I just don't like it when her little paws dig into me with all her weight.

Am I A Pug? - #1
This past weekend I was showing my niece and nephew a video of two pug puppies playing and my nephew asked if that was me and Sunny when we were babies. Apparently my nephew thinks that I was a pug puppy when I was a baby. Which got me thinking, do Sunny and I look more alike than I thought?

Embrace the Crazy
This would be my heaven. Nothing strange about this. I am not some poor unaware crazy dog lady, I have intentionally embraced the crazy dog lady in me. A girl can dream, can't she?

Dip Pens and Pug Slump
I've recently become enamored with dip pens. I love the look and texture of it. I even love the whole ritual of it. I admit that cleaning of the nibs is a bit of a pain especially when using fast drying ink, but there's something so fun about dipping your pen in a bottle of ink and just seeing where the ink goes. So above is my test run with the pen. I didn't have anything in particular to draw so I looked over and saw my pug doing her classic pug slump. I'm excited to try out more with this pen, mistakes and all. It'll be a lot of trial and error but I'm looking forward to it!

Cold Hands/Feet and Warm Pug
This kinda ties to my post a while back Advantage to Having a Pug #1 - Natural Foot Warmer. I have circulation issues and so my hands and feet range from burning hot during the summer, to freezing cold in the winter. Seriously sometimes it feels like I have ice blocks for my hands and feet. Luckily, my pug has enough body heat to warm me up. A blessing in the winter, a curse in the summer.

Second Pet? (octopus)
I've often considered getting another pet for myself and also to be a buddy for my lil pug. I'd probably get another pug since I'm pug-obsessed, but I like to consider other pets too for fun. Somehow I don't think an octopus would be a good choice...

Post-Run Binge
Sometimes I get a little carried away with my post-run meal and go a bit crazy and binge. At the time, everything tastes amazing and I'm so hungry! But afterwards, as I'm playing around on my computer and relaxing with my pug I start to feel like this.
Cramping My Running Style
I hate it when an otherwise decent run is ruined by a cramp when you're only halfway through. This is pretty much what it felt like on my run today.
My sister would be quick to point out that I am not this skinny (gotta love sisters!) but my people are always drawn thin and it's my drawing world so I can do whatever I want!
Also, does anyone else hate how their earbuds wire goes flopping about when running? If I try to tie it down or thread it through my tank strap I feel like it really restricts my head movement. Argh.

Capable
I did two drawings for this week's Illustration Friday theme (capable) during my lunch hour. I may rescan these when I get home since I had to fiddle with the exposure and contrast a lot to fix the horrible indoor lighting. I thought this was a pretty tricky theme this week!
First up, my pug is capable of manipulating me so well with her one constant sad facial expression. Seriously, this is why she's so chubby and why I have often sacrificed my own comfort for hers.
Next I've been wanting to do a puggerpillar transformation drawing after I saw a few photos on Pinterest with real pugs. Sad lil puggerpillar didn't think she'd ever be a puggerfly, but with a little patience she is capable of making big changes!
So yet another pug drawing. I have been having major drawer's block recently and so I'm hoping some new art supplies I ordered recently will help get the creative juices going! Happy Friday!

Animal Encounters Part 10
The last blast from the past at the zoo! The OCD in me loves that this happened to end in a ten-part series. So perfect! Here we have some loose sketches of a gazelle. These creatures are so delicate and dainty! So that's the last of my old zoo sketches. Makes me want to go to the zoo again!

Animal Encounters Part 9
Another blast from the past at the zoo! Here we have a gorilla and peacock mingling on my sketchbook page. There's no rhyme or reason to why I have certain animals paired up together on any given sketchbook page. Although I bet I could make an interesting story about a gorilla and peacock encounter. Maybe next time.

Just a quick sketch for this week's Illustration Friday theme, "popularity. " I think this requires no further explanation!

Pug Sleep Cycle
My pug regularly does this falling asleep thing that so many dogs do where she refuses to put her head down and instead just gradually closes her eyes, with her head bobbing around. Every now and then she startles herself awake and tries to pretend like she's alert even though a second later she's back to falling asleep. Sometimes I can't help it and I cry out, "Just put your head down and sleep, it's ok!" But unfortunately my pug does not understand human so she continues her sleepy head bobbing.
Pug Guilt Trip
It never fails. Every morning my pug gives me a super sad mopey face and I feel so guilty leaving her by herself. But I know that she spends most of the day playing with her toys or napping as I've seen on my sick days or when I've forgotten something and had to go back to my apartment. Such a lil manipulator!

Sleepy Jello Pug
I find that whenever I want to sleep in, my pug has other ideas and bothers me persistently until I wake up. However, whenever I have to wake up at my normal workday time, my pug is super sleepy and goes super jello-y whenever I try to pick her up. She becomes total dead boneless weight. I did a couple drawings to try and convey this.

Immovable Pug
Sometimes my pug just doesn't feel like walking and she tells me this by planting her butt on the ground and refusing to budge. With all of her ample weight focused downwards, she becomes an immovable object. Sigh, pugs can be so stubborn.
