The Town Pug And The Country Pug

Here we have a country pug and a town pug. The country pug may enjoy the simpler foods and pleasures in life but he does it in relative safety compared to the rich but dangerous life of the town pug. Although going back to the original fable, I think a mouse has it pretty risky either way. I have one word for the supposedly safe country mouse - OWLS. Anyways getting back to these pugs, I drew these mainly because I've been looking for an excuse to draw a pug in overalls or fancified with an ascot, top hat, and monocle! (obviously Monopoly and Scrooge McDuck were big parts of my childhood). But really, if town pug is so fancy, then where are his pants? (answer: see above reference to Scrooge McDuck).

Moral: Poverty with security is better than plenty in the midst of fear and with no pants.

  1. I love these drawings--both the town and country pugs are adorable! (It's okay, Town Pug, pugs were not meant to wear pants unless, of course, they are overalls!)

  2. I love this whole idea. And, I'm with Colleen. Pugs' bodies are too cute to wear pants, unless they're overalls, and then there has to be a place for the curltail to come out.

  3. I can't believe this. My friend photoshopped my pug with a monacle (sp?) and another with him working at the grocery store. Like white collar/blue collar. Again, if I could figure out how to post the pics on here I would!
