Stubborn Pugs

Some people think that pugs are stupid because some pugs are hard to train.  It's not that they're stupid, it's just that they are extremely stubborn.  Maybe they know what you're trying to tell them but they don't want to do it.  Maybe they just don't care.  It's a trait that can be incredibly frustrating, hilarious, and entertaining.

Sunny is the worst - she's the most stubborn dog I've ever met!  If we're out on a walk and she doesn't want to move she will just plop her big ol butt down and refuse to budge.  Sometimes, not even food is enough to convince her to do something.  Rosy on the other hand is a people pleaser and a food monster so it's pretty easy to convince her to do anything.

  1. The nail clipping drawing hits too close to home with my two, and angel Payton too!

  2. Your drawings are so wonderfully evocative, as always! You really captured the don't-cut-my-nails wriggle!

  4. Total truth! I have to take my pugs to the vet for nail trims. They resist so hard I need the backup.

  5. ahhh love it! bowie is definitely stubborn but can be coaxed into doing most things with food. he was on a pee strike this morning because the ground was wet - so annoying. surprisingly though they are both pretty ok with nail trimmings. but you would think bowie was being electrocuted when i try to wash his face haha. so dramatic.

  6. it is so comical how pugs are so accurate on their stereotypes. I have never met a dog that is so traits-similar. When I first introduced Maximus to our family, I kept thinking, "Why is he doing _______. This is so odd." Come to find out, it isn't odd at all.

  7. You're absolutely right. They are very smart, when they want to be.

  8. I love this! Especially the part about licking after a shower. I always (unsuccessfully) tried to get her to stop and thought it was so strange that she did that, but apparently it's completely normal...for pugs!
