Introducing The Newbie - Rosy!

So I have some big news...this weekend I picked up a new addition to the family!  A 2 year-old female pug named Rosy!  I've actually been looking for another female pug for almost a year but have had bad luck and some disappointments.  The young ones go fast!  And I really wanted to get a young one so that there's a slight age gap with Sunny.  I stalked the local pug rescue's website and Petfinder every day and found Rosy at a rescue a few hours away.  I knew she was the one and a few days later I was making plans to drive over and pick her up and welcome her to my home!

Rosy is itty bitty!  And she's super fit and lean.  I'm hoping I can keep her that way but then again, look at Sunny and all her rolls.  Sigh, I'll try real hard!

Anyways, I wanted to do a quick illustration to welcome Rosy to Bah Humpug.  I find it funny how I'm such a pessimistic, cynical, grumpy person and yet I have dogs named Sunny and Rosy!  And they both came named that way!  They both had different spellings (Sunny was Sunni, and Rosy was Rosie) but still that's a weird coincidence!  I debated whether to change Rosie's name, but once I realized I could change the spelling to match Sunny's I knew it was meant to be.  They are after all the happy, bright moments of my days!
Bah Humpug(s)!

Why People Think I'm A Crazy Pug (Dog) Lady

There are a ton of reasons for why people think I'm a crazy pug (dog) lady.  In fact, I can probably stretch this out into at least a two-parter.  But here are just a handful of reasons.  It's ok, I've embraced the crazy pug (dog) lady in me.

Pug Action

A lot of people may think pugs are lazy and inactive.  That's just not true.  Some pugs are super active and athletic, but even the laziest pug is capable of some amazing acrobatics in certain circumstances.  Sunny probably sleeps about 80% of the day but for 20% of the day she's busy doing one of these (ok "strange sleeping positions" counts as both lazy and active because sometimes Sunny gets in some amazing yoga-like positions).  See, all pugs are at least somewhat active!  And with the right motivation (i.e., food), you can get a pug to do almost anything.

How My Pug Sees Me

My pug thinks that the whole world revolves around her and I am put on this earth to cater to her every whim and demand.  I think this every time she steals my seat, gives me the stink eye when I dare to disrupt her nap, and waits for me to lift her up onto the bed or into the car.  It's okay.  I've fully accepted that I am simply Sunny's servant.

Pug Blanket

This past weekend it got super cold and I was happy to have a fat, warm pug to keep my feet toasty. Like so:
Sunny exudes heat which is a blessing in the fall and winter but a curse in the spring and summer (especially with a leather couch, which is a necessity for any pug owner). So why not save on your heating bill this winter and invest in a pug blanket to keep you warm? Yes, it'll cost a lot to keep up with their food demands and your home will be covered in fur and stink like pugs. But, on the other hand, you'll have multiple adorable pugs who all adore you. Good luck in the summer though - you'll need to crank up that a/c!

Pug Emotions (Wrinkles And Ears Version)

A while ago I did a drawing of pug emotions that focused on the tail. But pugs' faces can be very expressive, especially their wrinkles, eyes, and ears! So here's a quick drawing I did showing another aspect of pug emotions. Sorry I haven't been posting as much lately. It's a combination of drawer's block and getting really busy at work and other projects. I hope to post more often soon!
